History
Fongshan County's seat was set up here in 1684 and walled in earth in 1722. After the Lin Shuangwen uprising of 1787 to 1788 the seat moved to Pitou, today's Fengshan, and the stone wall built here in 1826 never brought it back. The North, East and South Gates survive and were listed as first-class historic sites in 1985. The West Gate was lost under Japanese rule.
