History
The Dutch called it Ape Hill in the 17th century for its macaques, and finds on the hill go back four to five thousand years. The Japanese renamed it Kotobuki-yama (壽山), 'long-life mountain', in 1923, when Crown Prince Hirohito's visit fell on his birthday. It is now part of Shoushan National Nature Park, with boardwalk trails.
