History
It dates from 1673, when Fujianese fishermen led by Hsu Ah-hua settled Cijin with a Mazu image, and the town grew around their bamboo-and-thatch shrine. It was rebuilt in stone in the 18th century and restored several times, including in 1926 and after war damage in 1948. It became a protected city monument in 1985.
