History
The first warehouses went up in 1973 in the port's third basin. In 2000 the city was looking for a place to launch the National Day fireworks and found them standing empty. Artists formed an association the next year, and the arts centre opened on 24 March 2002. The city's Bureau of Cultural Affairs has run it since 2006, and it now covers about 25 warehouse buildings.
