Fongyi Academy
鳳儀書院
Photo: Mk2010, CC BY-SA 4.0A restored Qing academy in Fengshan, the largest surviving one of its kind in Taiwan.
History
It was built in 1814, under the Jiaqing Emperor, and served candidates for the imperial examinations in what was then the county seat. The city bought the land in 2007 and restored it. Fengshan's own walls came down in the Japanese era, and only its small East Gate (Dongbianmen) and three batteries still stand.
