History
The line to Tainan opened from a temporary station in Takao in November 1900, and the station moved to its permanent site in 1908. The Hamasen name itself comes from the Japanese word for the shore railways that served the port and fish market. The last train left on 9 November 2008, and the station reopened as a museum in 2010. It is now part of the Kaohsiung Museum of History.
