What it is

Sticky glutinous rice scented with sesame oil and ginger and served with boneless duck. It builds on oily rice (油飯), which in Tainan usually means rice with savoury oils, shredded pork, mushrooms and dried shrimp.

How it is made

For oily rice, glutinous rice is mixed with soy sauce and fried aromatics. Mi Yuan Tzu in Kaohsiung steams its glutinous rice and flavours it with sesame oil and ginger.

How to eat it

Mi Yuan Tzu pairs this filling lunch with taro and pork rib soup.
